The latest Home Care Packages (HCP) Program Data Report, covering the period from 1 July to 30 September 2024, has been released. This report provides valuable insights into the current state of the program, including key statistics and trends.

Key Findings:

  • Total Access to HCPs:

    • As of 30 September 2024, 289,582 people had access to a Home Care Package (HCP). This includes:

      • 277,794 people actively receiving a package.

      • 11,788 people assigned a package and considering whether to take up the offer.

  • National Priority System:

    • 76,081 people were waiting for a package at their approved level in the National Priority System as of 30 September 2024.

    • Importantly, 99% of these individuals (75,452 people) were either receiving a HCP or approved for Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) services while awaiting a package at their approved level.

These findings highlight the ongoing efforts to support older Australians with essential home care services while addressing wait times through supplementary support options like the CHSP.
